Bödmeren-Virgin Forest excursion
The Bödmeren wood – one of Europe's most beautiful forests – lies in the deeper section of the Silberen-Twärenen Karst area. Slim pines with olive-green braided bits decorate the rugged rocks with green. In the part of the forest located higher up the pines stand far apart from each other and provide ample space for willows and Karrenbuckel trees.
A guided hike through this sensitive and unique natural paradise will show you its development and history as well as the fauna and flora of this untouched spruce forest. The path leads you through individual vegetation phases following the retreat of the glaciers. Alongside the bare high mountain karst, past pioneer plants such as willows and pines to the dense, sub-Alpine spruce forest. The native guide will explain the particularities and natural phenomena around the wood, the karstic ground and life in the mysterious spruce forest.
