BATHTUB RACE STOOS

The Stöösler bathtub race will take place on Saturday, 25 January 2025.

The legendary bathtub race on Stoos will take place again this winter. In the past, this somewhat different sporting event has caused a stir worldwide with its curious images and has been featured in the media from Germany to the UK, China and India.

Teams of at least 3 people race down the specially created piste to the Balmberg Inn in the bathtubs provided. DJ Mosi in the Mosi Bar and the Stoos fire brigade with its large coffee bar in the fire brigade restaurant right next to the race track will ensure a good atmosphere.

The fastest team and the three best costumed bathtub pilots will be rewarded with great prizes. Each team competes in at least 2 heats. The best teams reach the final (3rd run).

The starting places for the bathtub race 2025 have already been allocated. We look forward to an exciting event and numerous spectators cheering on the teams.

***A mishap turns into an event – the story of the bathtub race***
A plumber has to replace an old bathtub in a residential building in winter. While unloading the bathtub, it slips out of his hands and glides over the snow. It must be even better with a passenger, he thinks, and places his little brother in the bathtub on a snow-covered hill. The improvised bobsleigh works perfectly – a new ‘sport’ is born. The plumber tells his colleague about this funny episode and so the young men come up with the idea of organising a bathtub race. As one of them works on the Stoos, it was obvious to organise the race on the Stoos. Our research revealed that there are already various bathtub races, but they all take place on water and not on snow. Our bathtub race is therefore the first and so far the only race of its kind.
