OPEN HOUSE, FLAMBERGHUIS BLÜEMLISEGG
The Blüemlisegg group house was established in 1936 – following the fire of the first ski hut in February of the same year – and was built in just nine months by a handful of ski-enthusiast friends from the Unterstrass Gymnastics Club in Zurich, through voluntary labor. For many decades, it was a popular destination for TVU members for sports and family vacations. At that time, it even had its own ski lift and a temporary ski jump! It is said that Switzerland’s first sauna was installed there.
In 1984, the group house was taken over by the Flamberg Scout Corps in Zurich and has since been operated as a scout home. The house is very popular with school classes, families, and scouts from across Switzerland, Germany, and the Netherlands.
The event takes place in all weather conditions. The house cannot be reached by car. The best way to get there is via the world’s steepest funicular railway up to Stoos. Registration is not required, but a short message to help with organization is appreciated. Bring your own food; tea will be provided. Tableware is available.
