SWISS AVALANCHE DOG CHAMPIONSHIP

The 25 best avalanche dog handlers who have qualified for at least two avalanche dog tests since the last Swiss Avalanche Dog Championship are eligible to compete.

The Swiss Avalanche Dog Championship is a sports test. Operational avalanche dogs that have also passed the sports tests are, of course, eligible to participate.

Most sports avalanche dogs are not operational. However, they are also trained to the highest standard.
Operational avalanche dogs and their handlers must live in an operational area.
This is not the case for sports avalanche dog handlers, as many of them come from lowland areas and train for this sport with their dogs at various avalanche dog courses and weekends in the snowier mountains.
