Honouring SWISS-bench

Since the beginning of July, people have been amazed when they walk through Morschach. Next to the tourist information office, you can’t miss three seats just like the ones you see in an airplane. Only here they are made of wood, without seat belts, but with the lettering SWISS.

It all has to do with the award that the municipality of Morschach and Stoos-Muotatal Tourismus GmbH have jointly presented. It was for the local Ernst Immoos, a native of Morschach, who has achieved a great deal as a journalist for the “Bote” and other media as well as locally for cultural and social life.
Mayor Daniel Betschart emphasized that this achievement was very impressive and deserved great thanks. He was thinking of Immoos’ activities in the former cultural group, the information trail for the former Brunnen-Morschach railroad and numerous events. A publication created by Immoos about Morschach is still handed out to astonished young citizens today.
Regional tourism has also benefited greatly from Ernst Immoos.

Simona Barmettler, Managing Director of Stoos-Muotatal Tourism, mentioned that all of Ernst Immoos’ pictures always tell of the beauty, customs and history of the region and are therefore priceless.
According to Tourism President Silvan Kälin, these images have been formative for more than five decades.
As the icing on the cake, not only were the three Sseats officially put into operation, but the world-traveled Ernst Immoos also received a SWISS aircraft as a “gift”. A newly commissioned Airbus 220 was christened Morschach, with Ernst Immoos as its godfather. He, the tourism organization and the municipality were presented with a certificate and a model of the new aircraft. So anyone boarding this aircraft on a short-haul flight in future will actually be flying on vacation with Ernst Immoos
