Illgau – Vorderoberberg

A fun excursion with children, or quiet seclusion? The small railway takes you right to the middle of it all. It drives from the mountain village Illgau to the hiking, leisure and winter sports area St. Karl.

The mountain village Illgau lies far from all the hectic rush and the tourist routes. Once you step off the cable car you will encounter forests, fields, cows and the occasional farm.

Get away from routine life and dive into nature

The most beautiful hiking trails nearby, excursion destinations for families and untouched nature – with the Illgau-Vorderoberberg cable car you can access a landscape like that from a fairy-tale book. You can have family fun in summer and winter, and also experience peace.

Activities in summer

In summer the Ladybug-Trail, an adventure trail for the whole family with various attractions and two big forest playgrounds, starts at the mountain station. The Fallenflue circular route connects pleasant hikes, a wonderful view of the Mythen and the Talkessel Schwyz, silent nature and a fireplace with firewood.

Activities in winter

In winter the sun often greets you at the mountain station at 1170 meters above sea level. The toboggan takes you on a 2.3-kilometre descent to the valley station. A cross-country ski run is nearby. On the snowshoe trails, the winter hiking trail and the ski safari, you can enjoy the solitude and tranquillity of the snow-covered mountain world.
