Illgau – Ried

The smallest mountain railway in the canton of Schwyz is the only means of public transport to Illgau. Thus the ride to the sunny mountain village is already a unique experience.

The six-person railway connects the Muotatal with the village Illgau. It travels an altitude difference of 227 metres on a journey of 374 metres in just two minutes. Outside of operating hours each passenger can become a railway chauffeur and get the railway working with a jetton.

Recharge your batteries on the sun terrace

A population of approx. 800 lives in Illgau at around 800 metres above sea level. The small mountain village on the sun terrace is a starting point for hikes in the Mythen, Ibergeregg, Hoch-Ybrig and Muotathal regions.
